About us

How can we help?

At the Academisch Centrum Refractiechirurgie, we do not offer standard treatments; we offer customised treatment for every patient. Our academic clinic specialises in refractive surgery and offers advanced treatments based on the latest scientific findings. Thanks to our team of highly trained specialists, we can even help patients who can not find a solution elsewhere.

Patients choose our clinic because of the confidence they have in our expertise, innovation and dedication. We pride ourselves on our ability to provide exceptional care and continuously contribute to scientific research in our field.

Shaped by science

The Academisch Centrum Refractiechirurgie (Academic Centre for Refractive Surgery) operates under the responsibility of the Universiteitskliniek voor Oogheelkunde Maastricht. The University Clinic is responsible for basic and academic eye care in the Maastricht UMC+ treatment area. Scientific research focuses mainly on refractive surgery, with the aim of improving treatment methods and optimising patient outcomes.

Our specialists are members of the Nederlands Gezelschap voor Refractie Chirurgie (Dutch Society for Refractive Surgery), the scientific association of ophthalmologists. Qualicor accreditation ensures compliance with the strictest safety requirements. We are also a member of the World Association of Eye Hospitals (WAEH), a global network of eye hospitals. Our hospital is recognised as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ and focuses on delivering the best and safest ophthalmic care.

Our slogan ‘Broad view, strong vision’ reflects our belief that, on the one hand, we can offer tailored treatments to patients who fall outside the standard, and on the other hand, we will honestly discuss it if we find your eyes unsuitable for a treatment. Moreover, with an eye for the patient, we are also ready for emergencies in the evening and at night, because your well-being is our priority.
