Drs. R.C.I. Ollivier has distinguished herself in the field of refractive surgery through intensive training and collaboration with renowned experts. In addition to her clinical work, she is actively involved in the education of young ophthalmologists. She regularly provides training both locally and nationally and supervises specialists-in-training during their first cataract surgeries.
She believes it is important to stay up-to-date with the latest clinical developments, regularly attending international conferences, where she has also delivered several presentations.She has fully reorganised the ACRC with her characteristic dedication and enthusiasm. Furthermore, she has introduced new treatments and techniques, as well as modern equipment, expanding the already extensive range of offerings. Through these ongoing adjustments and improvements, she aims to provide well-considered, high-quality treatments.
Drs. R.C.I. Ollivier received her Bachelor and Master of Medicine degrees from KU Leuven, where she graduated magna cum laude. She then began her residency in ophthalmology at Maastricht UMC, where she became a chief resident in her second year. Due to her swift progress, she successfully completed the programme one year ahead of schedule.
Following this, she completed a subspecialisation in cornea, cataract and refractive surgery under the guidance of Professor Nuijts. During this fellowship, she also built a strong international network, receiving training at leading eye clinics with renowned refractive surgeons.
She further deepened her expertise in complex refractive surgery cases at tertiary centres under Professor Cummings (Ireland), Professor Reinstein (United Kingdom) and Professor Shetty (India). Additionally, she completed rotations at Moorfields Eye Hospital (United Kingdom) and Bascom Palmer Eye Institute (USA), both ranked as the top eye hospitals in Europe and America, respectively. In 2023 she pursued an additional postdoctoral qualification in Refractive Surgery in the United Kingdom, where she achieved the highest possible score.
Her specialisation includes corneal and refractive surgery, with a focus on innovative techniques and improved diagnostics. She is an experienced specialist in cataract surgery and has expertise in training co-assistants in this field. Her commitment to continuous improvement and education makes her a valued professional in her field.
