Some people have the outer layer of the cornea not firmly attached to the underlying layers. This can lead to recurring wounds on the cornea, resulting in tearing and pain, or reduced vision. Initially, artificial tears and bandage lenses are often used to create a protective layer. However, the PTK treatment targets the root cause: we laser the underlying layers superficially, making them slightly rougher. This helps the outer layer gain better grip during the healing process and allows it to adhere more firmly.
For this eye treatment, you must be at least 18 years old. The aim is to reduce or correct nearsightedness or farsightedness. The costs are € X per eye. The treatment is performed by one of our specialised surgeons, Drs Robin Ollivier or Prof Dr Rudy Nuijts. The treatment itself takes about 15 minutes per eye. This treatment also includes 2 years of medication, follow-up checks and any re-treatments.
